remote desktop cursor missing when connecting to mac with second display

Reported by a...@looker.com, Nov 17 2016

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_12_1) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/55.0.2883.52 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. remote desktop connect to a mac with a secondary display
2. the mouse cursor is missing
3.

What is the expected behavior?
I should see my cursor

What went wrong?
I don't see my cursor, no mouse cursor

Did this work before? N/A

Chrome version: 55.0.2883.52 Channel: beta
OS Version: OS X 10.12.1
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 23.0 r0

it's discussed here but I didn't find any crbug number.

The workaround is to turn ON display mirroring (under preferences -> display -> arrangement), and then you can turn it back off again and you still keep your cursor.

clicking in the UI when you have no cursor is hard. workaround: run remote desktop in a window and focus another app. position the cursor where you want and then click to give remote desktop the focus and click again to click on what you want.

this happens for me remote desktop from a iMac 5k with a second display to a retina mbp with a 27" apple display. and also in the opposite direction. both machines only have trackpads.

Aj, can you please verify if this is a regression?
I am not able to replicate the monitor setup (iMac + mbp) but, using a retina mbp with an external display using displayport, I was unable to reproduce this issue. I attempted pre and post upgrade to Sierra.

This is weird. I have three macs and can reproduce it reliably.

iMac 5k with external monitor (not mirrored, must be extending the display)
mbp with 27" apple monitor (not mirrored must be extending)
mac book air

Going from ANY machine to any of the machines with the extra monitors I lose my cursor. the cursor comes back if I turn on mirroring and remains if I turn mirroring back off.
so mirroring needs to be off WHEN I connect.

I really appreciate your help trying to track this down.

Thanks it appears to be working now. I have two cursors, a huge one and a smaller one that follows it around (see attached gif). I guess that's intentional.

It also doesn't try to show the second monitor which is MUCH appreciated. huge improvements, thanks.
