Comment 4 by giacom...@gmail.com, Nov 16 2016

I have the same problem on amazon.com and nytimes.com.
I am running Version 53.0.2785.143 Built on Ubuntu , running on Ubuntu 14.04 (64-bit).

All these websites work on Firefox on the same machine, and they work on Chromium on a Windows machine.

Just picked an Ubuntu 16.04 update which mentioned an errant set of trusted certificates.
 Fixed it for me!
Thanks Ubuntu Chromium
