Issue description
Chrome Version : <Copy from: 'about:version'>
URLs (if applicable) :
Other browsers tested:
Add OK or FAIL, along with the version, after other browsers where you
have tested this issue:
Firefox: OK (works as expected)
What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) Search for an Umlaut on a page: ä / ö / ü
What is the expected result?
ONLY instances of this exact character are found
What happens instead?
all instance of the vowel, including umlauts, accented characters and regular ones are found, thus making the search function useless for this
In the screenshot you can see that I searched for "ä" (marked red) but the search shows me not only the correct instances starting with the marked word but instead shows me every instance, regular occurrences of "a" as well as "â" and "á".

This is a dupe of Issue 379131 . I do hope it's getting some attention though as the original issue got "WontFix"-ed. |
