I used LINK, this is CrOS specific bug at this moment. Similar bug (crbug/648682) repro on all platforms but went away itself so it makes us suspect it is a YouTube bug but not media bug. This may also be a variation of crbug/648710. Change owner to chcunningham@.

No repro for all of the provided videos. Tested on LINK with 56.0.2924.9 (slightly more recent). Sounds like it may have just been network related? Yinning, let me know if you can reproduce.

I've not had success reproducing this on the LINK device we have in SEA. I'll visit KIR next week and take a look.

posciak@chromium.org - I think this is working as intended, but would like your review. This device struggles with VP9 (via libVPX) at 4k@60fps (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fC53l3jGAc). Is that meeting expectations for this device? Also, do we expect that libVPX will be used for VP9? If we lower the framerate to 30fps (e.g. videos from comment #8), things are reasonably smooth. Lower resolutions (e.g. the 1080p videos from initial report) show no issues.

Definitely pixel device isn't expected to handle 4k60 software vp9. 1440p might be okay, but even that is stretching it.

posciak@ - assigning to you to answer lingering question: Do we expect hardware accelerated decoding for VP9 on LINK? We're currently seeing libVPX used, and it can't keep up with 4k60 on this device. If libVPX is the expected decoder, please close as WontFix (working as intended)

Link does not have VP9 HW decode acceleration. |
