Login with owner account leads to black screen (guest or other users works)

Reported by frank.va...@gmail.com, Nov 13 2016

Issue description

Chrome Version : 55.0.2883.42
OS Version: 8872.44.0
URLs (if applicable) :

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Start chromebook
2. Login with owner account (sometimes asked for 2FA)
2a. Create a new account but with same details as the owner account
3. Get a black screen, need to power cycle to start again

What is the expected result?
Normal login

What happens instead of that?
Black screen and dead chromebook

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.

UserAgentString: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; CrOS x86_64 8872.44.0) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/55.0.2883.42 Safari/537.36

1) issues started after beta channel update of 2 Nov
2) login in Guest mode or any other google account work just fine
3) credentials are correct as i use them in guest mode to login in the google sphere (to report here eg)

4) i have a /var/log/messages file, hesitated to attach because of risk of exposing something but can upload when needed and safe

Update: i could login again, all back to normal.

Steps taken:
1) on another laptop, go to My Account and revoke access for the chromeos device in the list
2) on the chromebook, log out of Guest mode
3) login as owner account, have to do 2FA as expected but same result, black screen
4) power cycle and try again, black screen
5) this time only close lid and come back after dinner (some time passed), shows Currently logged in as picture and login prompt
6) enter password and voila all fine again.

However... when you log out and try to log back in, same issue as before -> black screen, nothing happens.

Looking in messages, I see "Browser hang detected", I guess a pointer to what is going wrong

Updated to 56.0.2924.28 beta and problem still exists.

Attached log file that clearly shows that, after the login failure, leaving the chromebook open with its black screen, results in a working system after 20 minutes
