No result code set for compare samples failure |

Issue descriptionIn https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=663771#c3, the bisect failed, but it didn't set a result code so the dashboard doesn't post clear info about the failure.

This case was due to the failure in compare_samples. Otherwise, the result code would have been set to failure.
