Mac's "Press <foo> to go back" bubble should read the keyEquivalent from the History menu and promote that

Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_12_0) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/54.0.2840.71 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: N/A What is the expected behavior? What went wrong? Previously, the "Back" button keyboard shortcut was simply the delete button. It's understandable that this functionality was removed due to the UX of trying to clear a field but not being focused, etc. However, the new alternative of Ctrl/CMD+right arrow is not ergonomic. It's difficult for my fingers to press since the CMD/right arrow keys are so close, my fingernails get in the way of resting on these keys, etc. It would be nice if CMD/Ctrl+Delete was a shortcut usable for the back button. My fingers (thumb and pinky) can rest on these buttons extremely easily and ergonomically. Furthermore, this should not confuse novice end users. Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 54.0.2840.71 Channel: n/a OS Version: OS X 10.12.0 Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 23.0 r0

That would be helpful. I didn't know about that shortcut. Thanks!

[mac triage] Cmd+[, ] appears in the `History` menu for Back/Forward, so I don't know if we need to promote it in other ways. That said, we did talk briefly about promoting Cmd+[ instead of Cmd+Left. Particularly because Cmd+Left/Right are editing/cursor navigation commands also. So, although they work in the same situations that Backspace/Delete would have worked in the past, Cmd+[ is a more "powerful" back shortcut because it works inside textfields. I think this is WontFix, but cc some people who might want something else :)

Agreeing with c#1 (where I think you meant Cmd-[ ?), probably we should promote that instead of Cmd-Left Arrow. Also, it should be possible to change Cmd-[ to some other keyboard shortcut in the Keyboard pane of System Preferences (although, unfortunately, not Cmd-Delete).

triaging
But some notes:
- I'm not sure if we always want the "Press <foo> to go back" bubble - I think it was planned as a temporary measure (and, e.g., there is a limit on the number of times it will appear for a given profile).
- we may not have translations/strings for all possible key equivalents
- Keyboard layouts also complicate things (e.g. german keyboards have {[]} as `AltGr` alternates with keys 7890) - Left/Right arrows may give more consistency across keyboard layouts
- there may be a downside promoting a mac-specific shortcut, whereas the arrows are cross-platform

This doesn't seem to really be about the bubble, but the shortcut itself (seems mis-titled).

, Nov 11 2016There's Cmd+{ and Cmd+} to go back/forward as well. Maybe we should be prompting with that shortcut instead?
