Playstation Vue is choppy/freezing on Chrome

Project Member Reported by mfo...@chromium.org, Nov 10 2016

Issue description

Version: TBD
OS: TBD

Playstation Vue, an OTT streaming service, recently launched Web support [1]. vadimgo@ reports performance is fine on Edge but horrible in Chrome.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) Subscribe to Vue at the URL below
(2) Stream in Chrome

What is the expected result?
Video is smooth and watchable like Edge.

What happens instead?
(3) "Slideshow" video (very slow frame rate)

Vadim, can you provide platform/version details and possibly a movie of the performance comparison?

Mark, can you triage this accordingly?

I suspect that the Component will ensure this is picked up by the triage process, but thanks for filing the bug (and to Vadim for reporting; he mentioned to me also, very much appreciated).

Since we'll need to reproduce internally to look at this in any detail anyways, perhaps Yining can help to see if this occurs on machines others than Vadim's. I'll also see if I can compare on my home Win10 box. There's a free trial available which should hopefully suffice for testing.

Windows 10, Chrome 54. Will provide comparison video today.
What does chrome://media-internals say when streaming? If you use canary to test there should be a copy players button.

I've opened this as FLASH-4186727 and will let Primetime know.

Hi, I am from engineering in Primetime. We have trouble to reproduce the problem because login information is missing. We tried to go through the steps to create a new account. But after that, we only see a page where we can click and pay for more subscriptions. Can you provide more details on which stream/video to play, and whether there is any test account we can use for testing?

And it is not clear to me which Flash Player version is using. Is this an injection which doesn't happen with an earlier version of the Flash Player?

As per c#4, this is flash but not html5. I'll remove video component and myself as owner.

Mac triage: WontFix - this bug has needed user input for years and not received it.
