Issue description53.0.2785.143 Built on Ubuntu , running on Ubuntu 16.04 (64-bit) URLs (if applicable) : N/A Other browsers tested: None What is the expected result? Expectation is when list of passwords is requested, list will be displayed with alacrity instead of waiting > 60 seconds for list to appear. Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if possible. This is not a bug report, per se, but rather an inquiry to see if an issue exists or if expectations need to be reset. 1) When I attempt to open passwords.google.com, I am able to sign in successfully, however the list NEVER populates! Why? 2) When I request my password list through Chromium's settings, the list will appear but it takes an unusually long time to be populated. My passwords list contains roughly 500 entries which I'm try to reduce IF I can get access to my list. 3) When I click on the X next to an entry to delete it from my list, it takes an unusually long time for the entry to be deleted, perhaps ~45 to 50 seconds. My Internet connection speed was tested just now and showed 48Mbps downstream and 4.98Mbps Upstream. Additionally, only one browser window is open on a freshly rebooted computer. Some insight from you good folks to understand why this is happening would be most appreciated!

Issue 1) is known, but not a problem of Chrome. This is an issue with the website which the team actively looks into. It is tracked on an internal bugtracker, so I'm afraid I cannot share the link to that. Issue 2 ) is bug 651049 and has been fixed since version 55. Issue 3 ) might be a problem with a slow (local) backend -- Gnome Keyring or KDE Wallet. I'm adding cfroussios@ in case he has some trouble-shooting advice. In general, we are working on simplifying the backends which will hopefully get rid of these issues in the future: bug 571003.

Regarding 3) You're running Ubuntu, so I'm going to assume you're using gnome-keyring (aka libsecret). Upgrading to version 55 should remove performance issues from Chrome, leaving you with keyring's problems. In my experience, all operations on keyring become slower the more passwords you have. Until we migrate out of it, the only solution I know is to reduce the number of things you have in keyring. chrome://settings/passwords is one place you can start deleting from. However, by your performance description, I suspect that your profile's 500 passwords isn't the only thing stored there. You can see the entire list by running Seahorse. Keep in mind that deleting from Seahorse won't stop Chrome from reinserting entries, if you're syncing your profile online. However, you could delete dead weight from old profiles and other things you don't need.

Due to lack of user response closing this issue, please raise a new issue if you come across the similar one in any of the latest chrome versions. Thanks!
