Chrome Version : 54.0.2840.71 m (64-bit)
URLs (if applicable) :
Other browsers tested:
Add OK or FAIL, along with the version, after other browsers where you
have tested this issue:
Safari: FAIL
Firefox: OK 45.0.1
IE: OK 10.0.9200.17609
What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) visit any site for instance https://www.chromium.org/getting-involved/download-chromium
(2) double click on paragraph
(3) the selection becomes the paragraph plus one extra white space at the end
What is the expected result?
The expected result is the paragraph, not the paragraph plus one extra space
What happens instead?
An extra white space is added to the selection
If you double click over one single word, no extra space is added. This phenomenon is also seen on tabbed elements, e.g. if you double click an element within a HTML cell.
Glad if you can fix it

Able to reproduce the issue on windows-7,Mac-10.11.6 and Linux Ubuntu-14.04 using chrome stable version 54.0.2840.99 and latest canary 56.0.2918.0 . This is non-regression issue observed from M-30 # 30.0.1550.0. Hence marking it as Untriaged to get it addressed. Note:From M30 to M40 entire paragraph and extra space was selected. From M50 paragraph and one extra space was selected. Thanks.

simple case: data:text/html, <span >You can test Chrome builds or Chromium builds. Chrome builds have the most infrastructure for analyzing crashes and reporting bugs. They also auto-update as new releases occur, which makes them a good choice for most uses. </span> 1. Select over line endings.
