Bookmark is still visible when it is unchecked

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) check show bookmarks
(2) uncheck show bookmarks
(3) the bookmark sometimes visible and sometimes it is not visible

What is the expected result?
bookmark bar should be invisible

What happens instead?
bookmark bar is visible

Tested on windows 7 , mac os 10.12.2 using chrome stable M55 #55.0.2883.87/95 and latest chrome canary 58.0.2991.0 and couldn't reproduce the issue.

@rebaz88.software-- Could you please provide us the chrome OS and version details , so that it would help us in triaging the issue better.
