Laggy interface

Device name:Google Pixel

From "Settings > About Chrome"
Application version:Chrome Canary 56.0.2908.0
Operating system:Android 7.1.0; Pixel Build/NDE63L

URLs (if applicable):

Steps to reproduce:
(1) open the chrome canary application
(2) open a new tab, navigate to any website 
(3)

Expected result:
Very laggy user interface all around,no matter what website. Animations are laggy, scrolling is laggy. 


Actual result:
Same as above.

Chrome version: Latest M56 stable release.
Not able to repro with;
Android 7.1.0; Pixel Build/NDE63L
Tested web sites; cnn.com, yahoo.com, news.google.com, vimeo.com
Experienced no issues with scrolling web sites heavy with text/video & images.
