"Live" CSS formating messed up in latest version Chrome

Reported by teo.eter...@gmail.com, Nov 3 2016

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_12_1) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/54.0.2840.71 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Open elements panel
2. Edit styles for a HTML element
3. Navigate to Sources the formatting of the changed property is wrong - oneliner without spaces and newlines

What is the expected behavior?
That the CSS is formated well

What went wrong?
.black-hack .chapterTree-container {background-color: #474a51;}

should be formatted with newlines and not one-liner.

another example from the CSS file:
.black-hack .jstree {position: absolute;top: 178px;width: 100%;overflow: auto;overflow-x: hidden;bottom: 50px;margin: 0px;padding: 0px;}

that was old CSS well formated but it gets auto compressed - spaces and newlines are removed after editing a CSS property in the styles panel (random sometimes it works).

Also since the last revision it happens often that it's just impossible to edit a property in the Elements Style tab the value stays the same or it's impossible to add a new value - happens randomly, never had the issue before - on older versions of chrome.

Did this work before? Yes before the last chrome mayor update

Chrome version: 54.0.2840.71  Channel: n/a
OS Version: OS X 10.12.1
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 23.0 r0

Random by editing some CSS. Occurred in the latest version of Chrome didnt had it before although I'm using DevTools everyday for 2 years 8hours a day for coding

Hi Teo!

Do you experience this on Chrome Canary? Could you please make a jsfiddle so that I would be able to repro this as well?

I'm not able to reproduce the bug easily and it happend to me twice since the last chrome update.
The only moment when it's reproducible is when its not possible to edit a CSS property in the Elements Style panel (you edit it and it disappears after you press enter or lose focus).
Yesterday i updated to the latest version of chrome, i didn't had the issue or two or more weeks but it doesn't mean anything. I will report if the bug occurs again.
I guess there are not a lot of people that use DevTools as they primary DevIDE :)
A git client, advanced refactoring tools or even better a good plugin system for the editor would make the life a lot easier.

I guess i have to report the bug as soon as I see it because some of them get fixed over time(debug-search bug, search tab disappears - didn't persist the last state, hieroglyph CSS cut of bug), but there are a few persistent ones that happen one every few months and not easily reproducible.
Tested with Canary for a week - I think you can close it now, didn't had the issue for quite some time but my guess is that the function that changes the CSS source file when editing Source panel CSS properties needs a more detailed code review because there are offen problems with it.

Thanks Teo, closing this then.
