Issue descriptionChrome Version:56.0.2908.0 (Official Build) e8eaccd054223465b7eb83989b161b9f5574387b-refs/heads/master@{#429486} OS:Windows (7,8,10) What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Launch chrome and navigate to chrome://md-settings/. 2. Type 'Yahoo' or 'Content' in search field (type every alphabets fastly before search completes for alphabet). 3. Then click back navigation arrow of the window till page reaches chrome://md-settings and Observe the search field or omnibox url on every back navigation. 4. Copy and Paste word/text ('Google') and and then click back navigation arrow of the window. 5. Observe. Actual:1. Weird behavior for back navigation is observed for search field after step 3.(please refer screen-cast) 2. After step 4, page directly reaches on chrome://md-settings. (i.e. entire search is cleared on first back navigation.) Expected: 1. Back navigation for search field should be proper (i.e. single alphabet should be deleted after each back navigation) This is non-regression issue, this is new feature introduce in 'M 56'(56.0.2908.0) Note: Will soon update Mac and Linux OS info.

This is expected and also happens in old Options. Every time a search happens a new URL is registered in the history. If the user takes breaks between typing, a URL is registered after every break. I'll leave that open as a feature request for potential improvement over the old Options.
