linux sysroot outdated

Project Member Reported by jochen@chromium.org, Nov 2 2016

Issue description

the sysroot for linux includes gcc 4.6 headers, however, our minimum supported gcc version is 4.8.

This means for example that we don't get the fast C++11 intrinsics for atomics.

Who owns updating the sysroot anyways?

jochen: We have been asking for Trusty bots for over a year. If you search for "trusty" in the bug tracker, you'll see many bugs for upgrading various Linux bots from Precise to Trusty. Bug 564904 is probably the most interesting of those. Once we get the official Linux bots converted, we can move to a newer sysroot, which we've been wanting to do for a while.

Unfortunately I can't own this. +people who can.
