Chrome file download issue

Reported by sankar.k...@gmail.com, Nov 2 2016

Issue description

Device name:Moto G4 Plus

From "Settings > About Chrome"
Application version:53.0.2785.124
Operating system:Android 6.0.1

URLs (if applicable):

Steps to reproduce:
(1) Open chrome and download a small size fill (like mp3 songs)
(2) Download another file with bigger size (like hd video song)
(3)

Expected result:

Pause / cancel option should be available while downloading both the files

Actual result:

There is no pause / cancel option while downloading the smaller size files (screenshot attached). I drag down the download file which is shown at the top, the pause / cancel option not coming. If want to stop that download means, I have to OFF the mobile internet connection. This is the only way to stop / cancel a smaller size download file.

But while downloading a bigger size file this options comes. (Screenshot attached).

This is a serious bug am facing. It must be solved.

And there is no download manager also in the chrome.

Another serious issue also am facing. While downloading a file, suddenly the download stops. I cannot resume it again. When I turn OFF my mobile network and TURN ON the network, the download again comes. This may happen only few times. Sometimes this may not happen. Then I have to download from the beginning.

The first problem is working as intended, since Chrome itself currently only handles a subset of downloads (those are the ones that have pause/resume), with the intention of eventually handling all downloads in Chrome.

The lack of a "resume" button on paused downloads is possibly a new bug.

Android only show the action button for the top notification on the notification drawer. As a result, in order to show the cancel/pause button, you need to expand the notification to see the buttons by performing a swipe down gesture on it.
