ruby inside span element sometimes disappears in vertical writing mode

Steps to reproduce the problem:

What is the expected behavior?
The "ruby" element is shown.

What went wrong?
The content of "ruby" element is not drawn, while the element has a correct dimension.

Does it occur on multiple sites: N/A

Is it a problem with a plugin? No 

Did this work before? Yes 52.0.2743.116 on Mac (I'm not so sure)

Does this work in other browsers? Yes

Chrome version: 56.0.2906.0  Channel: canary
OS Version: 10.0
Flash Version: 

This issue seems depend on wrappings.

- The issue won't occur if the "height" of "div" is large.
- Occurrence whether or not depends on the amount of surrounding contents ("Hello" and "World").

Confirmed on Mac too. It looks like to occur when surrounded by an additional <span> in vertical flow.

I've found that the issue seems hard to reproduce with the example URL on Chrome 63, but easy to reproduce with multicol layout.

I can no longer reproduce. Repoter, can you confirm?

I can see ruby is split at column boundary, but that's probably a separate issue.

I cannot reproduce on latest canary (71.0.3577.0) too.
