Broken link on "Download Chrome for Linux" page |
||||||||||||||||||
Issue descriptionVersion: https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/desktop/index.html?platform=linux OS: Linux What steps will reproduce the problem? (1) Go to the download page linked above (2) Click the big blue "Download Chrome" button (3) Click the "here" link in the "other distro" paragraph -- Not Debian/Ubuntu or Fedora/openSUSE? There may be a community-supported version for your distribution here. What is the expected output? Some information about how to get Chrome on Linux distributions that aren't RedHat or Debian. What do you see instead? The link points to http://code.google.com/p/chromium/wiki/LinuxChromiumPackages which lands at https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/adminIntro -- does not seem very related. Please use labels and text to provide additional information. I think the page went away as code.google.com shut down. I was hoping the page moved elsewhere, either in our docs/ directory or on chromium.org. I tried guessing some keywords and googling them, but I couldn't find anything. In the worst case, we should just remove that paragraph. Having a broken link makes us appear careless.

It should just link to https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src/+/master/docs/linux_chromium_packages.md instead.

Agreed with #2. That is a good page to point the link to.

This link is still broken: https://www.google.com/intl/en_pk/chrome/ "DOWNLOAD CHROME" Not Debian/Ubuntu or Fedora/openSUSE? There may be a community-supported version for your distribution here. "here" links to: https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src/+/lkcr/docs/linux_chromium_packages.md

Switching 'lkcr' for 'master' works: https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src/+/master/docs/linux_chromium_packages.md Changing status to try to get this back in the triage queue. |
