Consider removing translation from long press |
||||
Issue descriptionRight now we try to trigger a translation in contextual search from long press, but we've had feedback that this is problematic for some users. Given that we don't have high confidence if translation would be useful after a long press, I would recommend we remove this functionality. Thoughts? Objections? Do we have any data that we can reference for how often we send translations to search from long press?

Unfortunately we only have stats for how often we trigger translations from either tap or long-press. I suggest we do some web searches for user feedback and respond after considering them. I'll try to take a look sometime before Monday and update this bug.

I don't think we have any data at hand for this, but we could try digging or asking Sean if he can get numbers. I don't feel strongly, though I think it's somewhat useful to be able to just select a section of text and get a translation.

Also I did a web search to look for user comments, couldn't find anything either way except for a ChromeTips G+ post that does use longpress: https://plus.google.com/+Chrome/posts/h2Tp3nZBMtF Do you know if we can help with future ChromeTips to get them to show Tap instead?
