Videos on 7tv.de cannot be player

Reported by fsteiner...@bio.ifi.lmu.de, Oct 24 2016

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Fedora; Linux x86_64; rv:44.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/44.0

Example URL:
http://www.7tv.de/galileo-360/201631-ranking-spezial-wildes-suedamerika-ganze-folge

Steps to reproduce the problem:
Select any video on 7tv.de or on websites using the same network for streaming their videos (prosieben.de, sat1.de etc).

What is the expected behavior?
The video should play.

What went wrong?
Instead the following message is shown: "This video cannot be played right now. We apologize for any inconvenience"

The shell shows only messages "A Parser-blocking, cross-origin script..." but no errors about MediaEvent or decoder issues etc.

Did this work before? N/A

Is it a problem with Flash or HTML5? N/A

Does this work in other browsers? Yes

Chrome version: 54.0.2840.71 (Developer Build) (64-bit) Channel: n/a
OS Version: SLES 12

It works fine in Firefox on SLED 12. chromium has no problems playing videos from e.g. http://www.ardmediathek.de/tv or from http://www.rtl.de/ or youtube.

Hmm, that's strange, because in my Firefox 49 on SLED 12 it plays fine, with all plugins disabled (to make sure it's not one of them that jumps in), see screenshot. While chrome shows exactly the same message as in your screenshot. I do nothing else than just pasting the video URL in both browsers.

Could be some codec library available in SLED 12 that firefox is able to access and chromium cannot? What information about my firefox config might be helpful for you?

Is there anything I can do to collect better logs? When I start chrome in gdb I just see that another thread is started when trying to play the video and then it exits.

the video is not played on Safari too.
fsteiner-board@bio.ifi.lmu.de, Was this video ever playable in Chrome before? I suspect this is a bug in the website.
