This looks very similar to bug 614301 .

msramek: Can you please take a look?

Thanks for the report.

This is indeed similar to 614301, the only difference is that this issue pertains to open tabs while the other one to closed tabs.

This is *currently* working as intended - deleting browsing history does not affect tab navigation history. I have been recently arguing that it should, but it seems that different users have different expectations.

If we removed all of past tab navigations (i.e. disabled the "Back" button), then I argue that we should also remove the current navigation (i.e. the site you're looking at). That means, deleting all of history should close all tabs. Otherwise, closing those tabs will again leak a little bit of history into the "Recent tabs" menu.

simon.albin@, would that match your expectations? Or do you only expect the "Back" button to be disabled but the tabs kept open?
Personally, before this conversation I would expect the current tabs to be kept open but the back button disabled but thinking about it now it should probably close all tabs and start fresh. It really depends on what is the purpose of deleting history. If it is to delete history so no one can see what one was looking at previously, it has to close all tabs, disable back, and clear history.

I think that the primary reason for deleting history is indeed protecting privacy, and have the same expectations as you.

Thanks for the feedback - I will add it as a data point in my proposal to change this behavior. For now, I'll deduplicate this bug with issue 626007 .
