I used to use Firefox but versions 48 and 49 use 100% CPU on my system on eBay sell an item and Google search page (49 only I think) so are virtually unusable, also on my older Dell CPx H500GT. Some new graphics things must be causing problems on 32 bit hardware. I tried Pale Moon but it wouldn't download add ons and then crashed when used online. Chromium's the best so far, at least it generally works if a little heavy on CPU at page open and scrolling and not so fast as browsers a couple of years ago.

Chrome is no longer available for 32 bit Linux. The latest Chromium release isn't yet available in the Void repos. I'll look into it more. The errors are mostly created when I open a new web page, but possibly by other page interactions too, I'm not sure about that yet. Opening a page just now, a small sample of them: 04000000 [PROTECTION_FAULT] ch 2 [chromium[1026]] subc 7 class 0099 mthd 1658 data 00000001 2016-10-17T14:27:43.43587 kern.err: [ 3778.560161] nouveau 0000:01:00.0: gr: intr 00100000 [ERROR] nsource 00000040 [ILLEGAL_MTHD] nstatus 04000000 [PROTECTION_FAULT] ch 2 [chromium[1026]] subc 7 class 0099 mthd 1638 data c4e00000 2016-10-17T14:27:43.43600 kern.err: [ 3778.560206] nouveau 0000:01:00.0: gr: intr 00100000 [ERROR] nsource 00000040 [ILLEGAL_MTHD] nstatus 04000000 [PROTECTION_FAULT] ch 2 [chromium[1026]] subc 7 class 0099 mthd 163c data 4f7ffff7 2016-10-17T14:27:43.43607 kern.err: [ 3778.560240] nouveau 0000:01:00.0: gr: intr 00100000 [ERROR] nsource 00000040 [ILLEGAL_MTHD] nstatus 04000000 [PROTECTION_FAULT] ch 2 [chromium[1026]] subc 7 class 0099 mthd 1640 data 4affffff 2016-10-17T14:27:43.43611 kern.err: [ 3778.560359] nouveau 0000:01:00.0: gr: intr 00100000 [ERROR] nsource 00000040 [ILLEGAL_MTHD] nstatus 04000000 [PROTECTION_FAULT] ch 2 [chromium[1026]] subc 7 class 0099 mthd 1644 data 00000000 2016-10-17T14:27:43.43616 kern.err: [ 3778.560395] nouveau 0000:01:00.0: gr: intr 00100000 [ERROR] nsource 00000040 [ILLEGAL_MTHD] nstatus 04000000 [PROTECTION_FAULT] ch 2 [chromium[1026]] subc 7 class 0099 mthd 1658 data 00000001 I think the actual error messages are generated from the kernel but are triggered by Chromium, possibly via the use of some graphical library I also found these extra error logging messages generated only rarely: 2016-10-17T01:24:22.27471 kern.err: [ 1906.401525] nouveau 0000:01:00.0: gr: intr 00100000 [ERROR] nsource 00000040 [ILLEGAL_MTHD] nstatus 04000000 [PROTECTION_FAULT] ch 2 [chromium[1261]] subc 7 class 0099 mthd 1644 data 00000000 2016-10-17T01:24:22.27475 kern.err: [ 1906.401564] nouveau 0000:01:00.0: gr: intr 00100000 [ERROR] nsource 00000040 [ILLEGAL_MTHD] nstatus 04000000 [PROTECTION_FAULT] ch 2 [chromium[1261]] subc 7 class 0099 mthd 1658 data 00000001 2016-10-17T01:27:20.68359 kern.warn: [ 2084.810112] ------------[ cut here ]------------ 2016-10-17T01:27:20.68370 kern.warn: [ 2084.810137] WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 662 at ./arch/x86/include/asm/fpu/internal.h:532 fpu__restore+0xa b/0x150 2016-10-17T01:27:20.68375 kern.warn: [ 2084.810141] Modules linked in: hmac drbg ansi_cprng ctr ccm ext2 mbcache joydev arc4 rt2800pci rt2 800mmio rt2800lib iTCO_wdt rt2x00pci iTCO_vendor_support rt2x00mmio dell_smm_hwmon rt2x00lib mac80211 ppdev dell_laptop dell_smbios pcspkr dcdbas 3c59x cfg80211 input_leds psmouse eeprom_93cx6 snd_intel8x0 parport_pc evdev parport mac_hid snd_intel8x0m thermal irda snd_ac97_c odec acpi_cpufreq lpc_ich battery ac tpm_tis ac97_bus snd_pcm crc_ccitt intel_agp tpm intel_gtt rng_core shpchp snd_seq snd_seq_device snd _timer snd soundcore vhost_net vhost macvtap macvlan uhid hid hci_vhci bluetooth vfio_iommu_type1 rfkill crc16 vfio uinput userio ppp_gene ric slhc tun loop cuse fuse crc32c_generic btrfs xor raid6_pq sr_mod cdrom sd_mod nouveau ata_generic pata_acpi mxm_wmi wmi hwmon i2c_algo _bit drm_kms_helper syscopyarea sysfillrect sysimgblt fb_sys_fops uhci_hcd ata_piix ttm libata ehci_pci drm ehci_hcd serio_raw scsi_mod us bcore firewire_ohci firewire_core crc_itu_t yenta_socket pcmcia_rsrc pcmcia_core usb_common ... 2016-10-17T01:27:20.68391 kern.warn: [ 2084.810311] CPU: 0 PID: 662 Comm: Xorg Not tainted 4.7.6_1 #1 2016-10-17T01:27:20.68396 kern.warn: [ 2084.810316] Hardware name: Dell Computer Corporation Latitude C840 /Latitude C84 0 , BIOS A08 12/10/2002 2016-10-17T01:27:20.68400 kern.warn: [ 2084.810321] 00203286 f09c57a4 c12693bc 00000000 00000000 c105c235 c1632010 00000000 2016-10-17T01:27:20.68406 kern.warn: [ 2084.810332] 00000296 c1625558 00000214 c1022c3b c1022c3b 00000009 f15ee9c0 f15ee300 2016-10-17T01:27:20.68410 kern.warn: [ 2084.810343] bffc7640 f15ee9c0 c105c32f 00000009 00000000 00000000 c1022c3b f09c00e0 2016-10-17T01:27:20.68414 kern.warn: [ 2084.810354] Call Trace: 2016-10-17T01:27:20.68418 kern.warn: [ 2084.810367] [<c12693bc>] ?
