Issue description
UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/53.0.2785.143 Safari/537.36
Steps to reproduce the problem:
chrome.browserAction.setBadgeText({ text: '2000' });
On Chrome for Mac.
What is the expected behavior?
Text is 4 chars and therefore should not be truncated (it doesn't on Linux/Windows), as mentioned here: https://developer.chrome.com/extensions/browserAction#badge
"Because the badge has limited space, it should have 4 characters or less."
What went wrong?
The text is truncated to 2 chars.

Tested this scenario in Mac 10.12 with chrome version 53.0.2785.143 unable to load the background.js to extensions, while adding it to the extensions it is opening the js file in a readable format. Please check the screencast. emailbloggers@, could you please help us with any other way where we can load the background.js file to the chrome. Thank You....

Hello. I've come from the following forums. https://jasonsavard.com/forum/discussion/comment/15756 https://jasonsavard.com/forum/discussion/comment/15275 I'm a windows PC user in Japan, and I suffer the same issue about icon badge display when I use this "Checker Plus for Google Calendar" in Japanese. The English badge says "3h". Maybe the Japanese one wants to say "3時間", but it floods.
