Regression: missing/bad fonts in Flash content

Example URL:

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Run 54-beta
2. Open ebook on tickettoread.com, or teacher login on reflexmath.com -- this is all flash-based content
3. See box-with-an-x where actual characters should be

What is the expected behavior?
See actual characters

What went wrong?
Missing font maybe? This is a REGRESSION - it does NOT happen in 53 stable, only 54 beta!

Does it occur on multiple sites: Yes

Is it a problem with a plugin? N/A 

Did this work before? Yes 53

Does this work in other browsers? Yes

Chrome version: 54.0.2840.51  Channel: beta
OS Version: Google_Tidus.6301.109.17
Flash Version: 23.0.0.179

Unfortunately both of these sites are behind logins; they do have free trials you can sign up for. We have contacted Ticket To Read and they just told us "so use stable" (sigh). But as the problem has occurred on another site, it's obviously more widespread than just one (bad) flash site.

I wonder if you might be seeing  Issue #635030 ?  The screenshot in C#5 does look similar to yours, but I don't know if it's the same cause.

I have seen these garbage characters displayed on Flash content, primarily the interactive video ads on certain websites.  This is on a non-managed personal Chromebook, currently on:

Version 54.0.2840.51 beta (64-bit)
Platform 8743.57.0 (Official Build) beta-channel glimmer
Firmware Google_Glimmer.5216.198.19

This looks exactly like that bug! I assume that means we'll see a new beta 54 (or stable 54 next month) with the fix soon?
