Reader mode prompt keeps popping up after being dismissed |
|||||
Issue descriptionVersion: 54.0.2840.50 OS: Android What steps will reproduce the problem? (1) Navigate to www.fangraphs.com with reader mode enabled (which it is, for some reason, on my phone's installation of Chrome Beta) (2) "Make page mobile-friendly" popup (3) Hit the X (4) Later, navigate to www.fangraphs.com again What is the expected output? I would like Chrome to stop suggesting reader mode for a site I visit very often (and on which I never want to run reader mode). What do you see instead? The pop-up reappears several times a day. I'd also like a way to disable this feature globally (as I never want it); that doesn't seem to be available anywhere.

Adding a feature like this is still being discussed. Until then, this can be disabled in chrome://flags. Search for reader-mode-triggering and change the option to "never".

Ok, thanks for the pointer to chrome://flags. I'm sad that we're having to tell users about chrome://flags, though (e.g., https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/chrome/sC65UE22_4w).

Punting to wychen since he is now working on this feature.

Auto-disabling when the user dismisses this feature enough times should make it more tolerable. We don't plan to add an option in the UI to disable this globally though. The flag would eventually go away, so that'd be awkward for those who want to disable this globally. |
