Issue descriptionVersion: 55.0.2882.0/dev This will be device specific. My device is a Samsung Galaxy S7 What steps will reproduce the problem? (1) Visit news.ycombinator.com (2) Click on any comment link (3) Notice url bar where "https" is cut off.

If you tap the url bar and then tap back to the page, we switch to showing the https unclipped. This doesn't happen on iOS. https://login.microsoftonline.com is another example of a long domain with clipped https until you tap. Are the two states (clipped vs unclipped) intended? I don't have the best UX sense so I just mean to point out that there are two states. If it's intended, we're all good :)

We still apply URL highlighting if you dismiss your omnibox edits, so that is definitely a bug – presumably the URL bar doesn't move the text again, but it should: https://www.chromium.org/Home/chromium-security/enamel#TOC-Eliding-Origin-Names-And-Hostnames
