ccameron@ - any ideas? I actually ran into something similar this past weekend on my MacBook Pro (and I tried debugging it some but now can't recall why I never followed up with a bug report). When I opened my MBP a number of pages had black regions. They weren't like that when I last used the machine, so it seems like something happened on wake up. Reloading the page did not fix it. I restarted/updated the browser and never saw it again. The problem occurred in 54.0.2840.41 beta.

No, this isn't really actionable unless there is a pattern to the blocks. Could be a transient Canary bug, a GPU driver hiccup, etc.

GPU... Is there any way that I can test something and verify if this is/isnot the issue?

I have not upgraded to Sierra. If we think that will help, I'll do that asap.

This bug possibly needs to be closed out if it's no longer happening. Otherwise we need more repro info.

Hi weiliangc@chromium.org thank you for following up. I upgraded from El Capitan to Sierra about 2 hours ago and so far I've been using chrome just fine! Here's hoping my issue got resolved by upgrading osx. It's good to be back on chrome. Nothing can compare to the web dev tools

My issue seems to be better, but its still happening. Here is a screenshot of trello. The board's background is that orange and you can see the outline of the card lists which all turned black. Again, when this happened all the tabs in this window fail and usually they just turn all black. but when this happens, it happens for all tabs in a given window. again, opening a new window always works. https://i.imgur.com/iAnmCdA.png

I'm having a similar issue under Windows 10 using Chrome Version 59.0.3071.47 (Official Build) beta (64-bit). I can reproduce the issue with some regularity by browsing Reddit.

In addition to above, blocks temporarily go away if I scroll the page or click off of Chrome and focus on another program.

Hi, please could you attach a copy of the output displayed from "chrome://gpu"? If we can't get additional GPU information this issue will be closed.

Sounds like the mac issues were resolved, with the reporter in comment #19 saying Win10, so leaving this bug as win only to avoid confusion. It looks like the about:gpu in comment #23 says software compositing with swiftshader. Maybe we have some bug in cc::SoftwareRenderer and partial swap on Windows? Test team, can you test with --disable-gpu on Windows 10 to see if you can come up with a reliable way to repro these black squares?

Tested this issue on Windows 10 on the latest Stable 69.0.3497.100 and unable to reproduce the issue by following the below steps. 1. Launched chrome with --disable-gpu as per comment #25. 2. Navigated to www.reddit.com and scrolled down the page, couldn't observe any black squares on the page. Attached is the screen cast for reference. As this issue is not reproducible on the latest Stable version, removing 'Needs-TestConfirmation' label. enne@ Request you to check and confirm if anything is missed from our end in triaging the issue? Thanks..
