Investigate embedding media (Image) previews in the MD Downloads list

Project Member Reported by ainslie@chromium.org, Oct 6 2016

Issue description

Observation: I just downloaded a few images from the same source with human-unreadable filenames and found that our downloads UI wasn't very useful in that state.

Instead of showing the generic file-type icon, we should investigate showing media previews. Because of the ChromeOS download notifications and Clank downloads-home work, there might be some infrastructure we could build on top of for Desktop (MD).

Hey Dan can you triage this and figure out where it fits in your priorities over the next few quarters?

@bettes do we have mocks for what image previews would look like? Would it just occupy portion of the card to the left of the divider?

We don't unfortunately. I can imagine using a 16:9 aspect ratio with the current card height. And then ellide the grey text when necessary.

Once this bug is assigned, we can work to investigate further.

+nancygao@ FYI this is a fairly old desktop request but something we can talk about over the next quarter or two if you'd like!
