Caption / subtitles are Not shown when a video with subtitles is cast to chromecast |

Issue descriptionApplication Version (from "Chrome Settings > About Chrome"): M53, M54 Android Build Number (from "Android Settings > About Phone/Tablet"): NMF03, MMb29M Device: Nexus 6P, S5 Verizon Steps to reproduce: 1. Go to http://people.mozilla.org/~rgiles/2013/demo.html 2. Play the video 3. Tap the fullscreen icon 4. Tap the Cast icon 5. Tap on an available Chromecast device 6. Wait for the video to start playing on the selected Chromecast Observed behavior: Subtitle of the casted video do not showup on the tv. They instead show up on the phone ( in the black video screen) Expected behavior: The video's subtitles are displayed on the Chromecast Frequency: 100% Additional comments: Not a recent regression. Seems to be broken in M53 as well.

Actually an ancient issue, has never worked. See bug 297024 , which I have just marked as a duplicate of this. Was not fixable when I looked at it in 2013, due to limitations of the then Chromecast protocol and API, but that may have changed.

-aberent,maybelle Yeah, I expect this would need some plumbing from Blink (hence Remote Playback API should've made it easier) but after investigating whether we can actually pass text tracks (as URLs I assume) to the Chromecast default player.
