Tested on windows 8 in Chrome browser with following builds and could not reproduce the issue.

Stable : 53.0.2785.143
Beta   : 54.0.2840.41
Dev    : 55.0.2873.0

Could you please try a system restart and a fresh installation of chrome browser. Please update us with your observations.

Just did, no luck - immediate crash.
What does the attached dump say - does it tell the exception that takes place?
