searching and exiting search through keyboard shortcut causes exit of full screen on mac OSX sierra

Issue description

Chrome Version       : 53.0.2785.116 (Official Build) (64-bit)
OS   : OSX 10.12 macOS sierra
Other browsers tested:
  Safari OK
  Firefox OK
have tested this issue:
     Safari: YES
    Firefox: YES

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) enter full screen mode on chrome app
(2) on a web page hold the following keys on the keyboard "cmd + f"
(3) (optional) enter string of any characters
(4) (optional) hit "enter" key 
(5) hit "esc" key on keyboard

What is the expected result?
the search field should close and the browser should remain in full screen

What happens instead?
the search field remains open and the browser exits fill screen mode

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.

Tested the issue on Mac OS 10.12 Sierra on Chrome Stable# 53.0.2785.143 and is able to reproduce the issue. Attached a screen cast for reference.
This is a Non-Regression seen from M30# 30.0.1549.0 (Official Build 208818), so changing the status to Untriaged so that the issue would get addressed.

Note: This issue is not seen on Windows, Linux and Mac OS X 10.11.6.
