Pause/cancel actions hidden on Download notifications when more that one download active |
||||
Issue descriptionVersion: 55.0.2868.0 OS: Android NDE63N Device: Sailfish What steps will reproduce the problem? (1) Start downloading a media file (e.g., an MP4 from https://www.ssyoutube.com/watch?v=OLuq3CKqky8) (2) Start up a second media download concurrently (e.g., hit the 'Download' button on this page again and say 'Create new file') What is the expected output? It should be possible to pause/cancel each of the ongoing downloads from the Android notification. What do you see instead? At least on Android N, the 'Pause' and 'Cancel' actions are only shown on *one* of the active download notifications. There appears to be no way to pause or cancel any of the other concurrent downloads. This seems to have something to do with how Android N shows notifications - I don't think I saw this behavior on Android L.

That does work. I did not realize that and arguably this is not that discoverable. Why are the pause/cancel actions not in the notification itself?

Moving the actions to a pulldown is a change that the Android notification team made, and TMK is not something that we can change. I don't know the reasoning and I would agree that it is not that discoverable. Do you know anyone on that team?

I don't, but then again I don't think we should be using notifications as the primary way to interact with individual download operations anyway. We should have one global notification for all pending downloads which takes you to the Download Home to manage individual files.
