Fitbit Charge 2 will not sync with Chrome OS.

Reported by pmlz2...@gmail.com, Sep 27 2016

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; CrOS armv7l 8530.90.0) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/53.0.2785.129 Safari/537.36
Platform: 8530.90.0 (Official Build) stable-channel veyron_minnie

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. open bluetooth
2. add device
3. connect

What is the expected behavior?
tracker would sync via bluetooth

What went wrong?
Authentication failed

According to Fitbit:
We would like to inform you that the OS that ChromeBook uses is "Google Chrome OS" and it's not supported by Fitbit, the OS supported by Fitbit are these ones below, that's why you haven't been able to sync or pair your tracker with your ASUS Chromebook Flip, we recommend using one of the following Browsers or you can try setting up using a Supported device.

                            PC Browsers MAC Browsers
Chrome 12 and up 12 and up

SO! IF Chrome browser will sync the data from fitbit trackers, why can't the Chrome OS??

Do I have to download the Chrome Browser on the Chromebook Flip?

Did this work before? No

Chrome version: 53.0.2785.129 Channel: stable
OS Version: 8530.90.0
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 23.0 r0

Fitbit support stated it would work with the Chrome Browser but not with the Chrome OS. Why is that?

Any help would be great! There are so many people wanting to sync their Fitbits with Chrome!!

So how can I sync data from my Fitbit on the Chromebook Flip? Do I have to download the Chrome browser??

Could an extension or small program be created to bridge the difference between Chrome Browser and OS so that the Bluetooth will work??

Will the Bluetooth on Chromebook Flip work with & sync any known fitness tracker???

Thank you for your time and help.

Hi pmlz2004@, can you check on latest M-55 or M-56 builds. This is fixed in M-55 and above builds.

No response to #3, so closing as WontFix. Please reply if this is still a problem!

I have not been able to try your suggestion to use M-55 or M-56 builds.

I have Secure build #54. I guess the update to 55 or 56 have not come to the Secure platform yet. I am not a Developer and do not want things that might not work.

As soon as the 55 or 56 are released to the secure build or what ever they call it, I will try it.

What I am finding is that the BLUETOOTH is not Connecting to the Setup section. The Fitbit does show as an item to be connected, but it will NOT connect. I have tried many times to connect the Bluetooth to fitbit but it will not.
I had no trouble connecting the bluetooth mouse! IT works..!!

Could this be a bluetooth problem??

It is a known problem in M54 and now works (at least for us) in M55+. If it still doesn't work after M55 goes stable, let us know!

that will be, do you??

Thanks so much!!

Peggy
