My webapp can't use Alt + Click

Reported by ivan.kuc...@gmail.com, Sep 26 2016

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/53.0.2785.116 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Go to my webapp https://www.Photopea.com
2. File-Open some JPG from your computer. Choose a Clone tool on in the toolbar (or press "S" key).
3. You must do Alt + Click to choose the source of cloning. Then just draw without pressing Alt.

What is the expected behavior?

What went wrong?
It works perfectly in Firefox or Chrome for Windows, but the context menu shows up in Chrome OS. Thousands of my users have Chrome OS and tens of them have reported it as a bug to me.

I don't want to introduce a special new set of key shortcuts to my app, that will work only in Chrome OS. I am really desperate, so I recommend them to install another operating system into their devices. It seems that Chrome OS is really bad for running webapps. Is there any chance, that it will be fixed?

P.S. when you choose Zoom tool, holding Alt switches between zooming in / out. It also does not work in Chrome OS.

Did this work before? No

Chrome version: 53.0.2785.116 Channel: stable
OS Version:
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 23.0 r0

It is really frustrating to lose features or complete apps, that rely on the uso of Alt+click, that works on chrome for other devices, but no in Chrome OS. I have a chromebook my own, I had several problems with webapps not letting me use Alt+click because i get the right-click :(

Can we get any response, whether anybody is going to fix it? It seems like you are ignoring it for 3 years and you don't even allow people to write comments under the issue 248762 .
It's not being ignored, but it's surprisingly difficult to fix without breaking other things. The correct solution is to add a setting for it but that runs afoul of the UI team's resistance to adding new settings.

Several of us have been pushing for a fix for a couple of years now but haven't been able to make progress. We were able to fix most of the key combo conflicts, but this one is a much tougher nut to crack.

This is creating some issues especially with web apps like Photopea (see for example https://github.com/photopea/photopea/issues/154)
