No "automatic-tab-discarding" flag in v53

Reported by nicolas....@gmail.com, Sep 26 2016

Issue description

Chrome Version : 53.0.2785.116 (Developer Build) (64-bit)
Operating system : Arch Linux

What steps will reproduce the problem?
enter "chrome://flags/#automatic-tab-discarding" in the URL field

What is the expected result?
The flags page should be rendered and scrolled to the #automatic-tab-discarding setting

What happens instead?
Flags page is rendered but no #automatic-tab-discarding setting can be found on it.

Also typing "chrome://discards" in the URL field yields ERR_INVALID_URL "This site can’t be reached"

Components: Internals
Status: Untriaged (was: Unconfirmed)
Could some one please look into the issue and confirm whether the behavior is intended or not.
Changing the status to Untriaged so that the issue would be addressed.
Thank You.

Automatic discarding is not yet available on Linux, but chrome://discards will be very soon.
Isn't `chrome://discards` a part of the "Automatic discarding" feature? Shouldn't they come together? Any estimate on which Chrome/Chromium version will bring these to linux?

chrome://discards gives an overview of tabs and their discard state, and allows the user to manually discard. Automatic discarding happens when memory is running low. That part is missing on Linux. It is currently being worked on, but unfortunately I don't have a firm timeline (hopefully in the next 3-4 months).

Enable chrome://discards on Linux.

Tab manager was enabled on Linux a while ago but chrome://discards was never made available on that platform. This CL fixes that.

Note that automatic discarding is still not available on Linux due to the lack of memory pressure subsystem on that platform.

Shouldn't it at least get to be listed in `Unavailable Experiments`?

Any news on this? Or this feature was replaced with something else?
