Omnibox search icon (lens) is HUGE after switching to the engine with Tab/Space key

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/55.0.2868.3 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
Type a search keyword/accelerator (google.com, or g, for example) in an empty omnibox and press Tab or Space key.

What is the expected behavior?
The omnibox icon keeps its small size

What went wrong?
A huge (2x normal size) search lens icon is displayed.

Did this work before? Yes 55.0.2859.0 and probably newer builds which I don't have

Chrome version: 55.0.2868.3  Channel: dev
OS Version: 6.1 (Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2)

Bisect:

You are probably looking for a change made after 420136 (known good), but no later than 420143 (first known bad).

Can't reproduce in 55.0.2883.0, the bug was apparently fixed.
