What steps will reproduce the problem?

I use Chrome VOX exclusively when I interact with Google Chrome and other Google apps. I have been advocating for, and using Chrome VOX for a few years now and even use it on my Chrome book from time to time. I recently decided to give Chrome VOX Next a try and this is what I found. 1. VOX Next is slow and very sluggish. When you are navigating lists, text, or DOM items it is so delayed that if you press the down arrow several times you will have to wait for VOX Next to catch up before you can do anything else.

I am using the Alex voice with Chrome VOX but when I try to switch to "Google US" voice there is no speech output.

The Next keyboard layout does not seem to work if VOX Next is not enabled, yet it is still an option in the list of keyboard layouts. I am using a Mac Book Air on the latest osX version and do not have Voiceover running when I use Chrome VOX. Thanks

What is the expected result?
Quick and responsive speech feedback when reading, navigating, or interacting with text/elements.

What happens instead?
Slow response, delay in feedback, and crashing.

The only Other thing I will mention here is that EVERY time I close Chrome on my Mac it crashes and throws an error message. I am unsure why this is happening but I always send the report.
