Bug with oninput event in Chrome 53.x only

Reported by gilpe...@gmail.com, Sep 19 2016

Issue description

Please read this really small thread -> http://stackoverflow.com/questions/39563036/oninput-event-not-working-anymore

Other people confirmed this bug, so I think you should take a look cause it happened with me too only in version 53.x not in earlier ones.

I expect this is working as intended.

Yeah, it's bad news, really bad news. If I want to compile the 53.x version only to overcome this new "feature", do you know exactly where I need to change the code? Is there any chrome switch which I can use to disable this "feature"?

I responded to the stack overflow issue. You can use execCommand.

document.execCommand("insertText", false, "foo");

This is an intended consequence of issue 520519 .
