Issue descriptionChrome Version : 53.0.2785.116 64bit URLs (if applicable) : OS version : 10.11.6 Behavior in Safari 3.x/4.x (if applicable): Behavior in Firefox 3.x (if applicable): Behavior in Chrome for Windows: What steps will reproduce the problem? (1) Opening a new tab (cmd-t) and entering a google search (2) (3) What is the expected result? I get to the google.ca search results. What happens instead? Either I get black boxes/entire black window or the new tab looks like another tab, but none of the content is clickable. I regret updating Chrome--first time I've had issues that make it unusable.

Please navigate to chrome://gpu/ and paste the result into this bug report. Do you have a lot of tabs open? Do you run other GPU intensive applications along with Chrome? Do any other applications show problems? I ask this because your problem must be rare, suggesting something related to your specific computer.

Please see attached PDF. As an addition, I have noticed this issue only happens when I am connecting/disconnecting an external monitor via a Thunderbolt-->HDMI adaptor.

Similar problems: Chrome (many versions including current, even with no plugin and freshly installed) on Mac 10.11 gives me black tabs. The screenshots exactly matches mine, though the problem seems to ocure randomly, I can still use chrome, but after some time, maximum an hour or two I will have to restart because of this problem: * Never while I am using a tab * Always when I come from another application or tab switch * When it starts to affect a tab, it has a higher probability to affect new tabs (though some still work) * It feels that fullscreen app (games or VLC) make this behavior occuring more often. * Refreshing the tab does not fix the problem, though, sometimes, opening the same url will work.

f...i@gmail.com, could you please also attach the output from navigating to "chrome://gpu/" ?

Here you go. I have found a way to significantly increase the rate of failure: connect an external screen (using Duet seems to always reproduce or a VGA output). Thanks

Very similar to issue 631485, might be an IOSurface leak. |
