mash: standalone apps crashing don't show anything on screen or in logs |
||||||||
Issue descriptionI recently introduced a startup crash into the browser and didn't notice. :-( In particular, running chrome --mash will still bring up a nice ash environment. You just don't get a browser window. There's nothing in the log that makes it obvious the browser didn't start. There's nothing on screen either. It looks just like running ash under mojo_runner. Likewise, if you hit Ctrl-N and the browser dies during startup, nothing happens. I suspect it's true for launching other apps. It seems like we should either put up some kind of "App didn't start" or "App crashed" dialog and/or log something.

sky/msw, this seems like a nice-to-have for shortcut viewer - right now app startup crashes are silent. It's not relevant for browser anymore - that will bring down the system.

Agreed, it'd be nice to have some user-facing feedback for app crashes. At the least, they should be listed in about:crashes, presuming you can start Chrome and Blink :)

Maybe we could show a bubble? I don't think this should block ksv, so I'm removing ksv. If you guys think otherwise, please update. |
