In my opinion we should be careful what to put in the history. Not all live regions are something you might want to review. For example, in Docs you might get one live region announcement per character when navigating by cursor keys.
We should also respect the desires of the author. Announcing something and then removing it from screen means I don't want users to have access to it in the future.
What if I am writing a memory game whereby some words are announced via live regions and then hidden, and the user should recall them? Suddenly I can cheat.
I suggest we keep track of the following roles:
alert
status
And perhaps a few others, but not all live regions.
Note that I know that other OSes do it, but I don't agree with all decisions made by 3rd-parties.

It'd be great if there was a "speech" history, which would capture the ;last 10 events.

This is an important issue because if a user misses a message which was
spoken, it would be great to have that message repeated. Also, same if a
user is typing and interrupts the utterance of a message.
