What is the device in Step 4?
melnikaite can you reproduce this issue with Chrome Canary (chrome.com/canary)?
Cc: jlebel@chromium.org
It looks like you might be hitting https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=618650 which could be https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=638715

jlebel@ WDYT?
https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=638715 sounds similar to this
I tried HTC Desire EYE, OnePlus One and Rapspberry Pi
55.0.2865.0 canary (64-bit) fails to find any device, so I can't check this issue
I suspect HTC Desire EYE and OnePlus One will advertise dual-mode. I'm not sure about your Rapspberry Pi.

Can you try with a BLE-only device?
Sorry, I don't have BLE-only device
Which library do you with your Rapspberry Pi?
$ dpkg-query -l | grep bluetooth
ii bluetooth 5.23-2+rpi1 all Bluetooth support
ii libbluetooth-dev 5.23-2+rpi1 armhf Development files for using the BlueZ Linux Bluetooth library
ii libbluetooth3:armhf 5.23-2+rpi1 armhf Library to use the BlueZ Linux Bluetooth stack
ii pi-bluetooth 0.1.0 armhf Raspberry Pi 3 bluetooth
Would you mind trying https://github.com/sandeepmistry/bleno on your Raspberry Pi to advertise a BLE-only device?

Hey melnikaite.melnikaite@, can you give a try to latest Chrome Canary and tell me if it works better for you now as we've made some changes to Bluetooth chooser?
Status: WontFix (was: Unconfirmed)
melnikaite.melnikaite please do let us know if this is still an issue you're seeing.

On Chrome 56 stable, and Chrome 58 canary builds I am able to search for a prefix and see local devices appear in the chooser on a mac pro.
