BattOr attached to chromium.perf build7-b1 needs a new SD card

Project Member Reported by charliea@chromium.org, Sep 13 2016

Issue description

Bot: https://luci-milo.appspot.com/buildbot/chromium.perf/Mac%20Retina%20Perf%20%284%29/6157

Does Infra labs have any extra SD cards laying around? If so, would it be possible for someone from Infra-Labs to install a new 32GB SD card into this BattOr? Doing so is really simple: pretty much just a matter of removing some screws and plopping a new one in. (For what it's worth, we'd like to keep the old one, as it has valuable data on it.)

For some context, there's a bug that currently exists in the BattOr firmware that puts these SD cards into a bad state and starts making a bunch of BattOr tests fail. Mellow, the company who makes the BattOrs, is currently working on a fix, and has told us that a temporary solution is to just replace the card. It would also be helpful for them if we gave them the corrupted card, because that would give them an opportunity to test if the fix works.

If this is too much to ask, I understand. If that's the case, maybe we can try to arrange a time when rnephew@ can run down to the lab to do this?

I can do this.

Pass on the suspect card to Randy?
Replaced the 16gb card with a 32gb one. I'm not sure if it's a new one but I think it is. We do have new 128gb ones available if this one is scribbled.

Looks like the battor is not happy. I can switch the card with a know unused one.

Let me know if that is how you want to proceed.
If you wouldn't mind and it doesn't take long, that would be much appreciated. I just sent out an email to Chris Testa to ask him if 128GB cards are known to work, but I'm sure that, in the worst case, it'll just act strangely and start to misbehave again. In the best case, our problem will be fixed.

Looks like I was premature about the battor not being happy. Looks fine now. I wonder if someone had to do something with the new ssd?

Anyway marking this as fixed. If it's not then reopen.
Wait: did anyone swap out for a new SD card in this BattOr?

I did the initial switch but noticed that it was still complaining about the battor.

Then I came back a couple of days later and voila, it seems to be working. I'm wondering if someone had to manually do something to the card?

I did not switch in a second card.

Hmmm, interesting. Yeah, I have no idea. Let's assume that the first switch took a bit to take effect?
