Extend the hit region of the system menu to edge of screen

Project Member Reported by yiyix@chromium.org, Sep 13 2016

Issue description

Users can click on settings in top chrome and traverse menu items by moving the mouse along right edge of the screen; however, users cannot do the same thing with settings in chrome os: there is a gap between the system menu and the right edge of the screen. If users click in the gap, the system menu would close.

Users should experience the same system behavior in chrome OS. Extend the hit region of the system menu to the right edge of the screen.

Very good observation, thanks for bringing this up. The specs show 8dp of spacing between the menu and the edge of the screen; we have the same 8dp of spacing for the system tray, and we do extend the hit region of that.

I'm curious to hear Sebastien's thoughts.

Valery and I, we have discussed with Sebastien already. He is Okay with the change as long as we don't change the appearance of the system menu. In his opinion, it is better to have the system menu aligned with the user profile picture.

Sebastien, please feel free to add more thoughts on this.
#4 is correct. AS long as the visuals are not impacted and are as specced, the touch-target tweak is fine.

Something to consider for the future.
