Omnibox suggestion not disappearing with Shift-Del

Issue descriptionChrome Version : 52.0.2743.116 OS Version: 10.0 URLs (if applicable) : somasim.com Other browsers tested: N/A What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Visit somasim.com a couple times. 2. Type [som] in the omnibox, observe autocompletion to somasim.com. 3. Hit Shift-Del to remove the somasim suggestion. 4. Clear the omnibox. 5. Type [som] again. What is the expected result? somasim.com does not autocomplete. What happens instead of that? somasim.com does autocomplete. Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if possible. UserAgentString: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/52.0.2743.116 Safari/537.36 This also reproduces (but using Alt-Shift-Backspace rather than Shift-Del) on a 2015 Pixel running Chrome 52.0.2743.116 (64-bit) and Platform 8350.68.0 (Official Build) stable-channel samus.

Shift-del is "cut", so if you have a selection in the address bar (e.g. from inline autocompletion), hitting shift-delete will delete that completion, not ask the omnibox to remove the underlying match. If you're going to use shift-del to remove items, always make sure you've used the arrow keys to select the item (i.e. if the item is the first thing in the dropdown, arrow away then back up). If you do this and still have problems, we can reopen.

Aha, thanks! It turned out that we had to remove every related suggestion, such as the redirect target of somasim.com or a subpage that had been previously visited, before the suggestion we wanted to remove would go away. I don't know if this qualifies as a bug, but it is annoying. |
