Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_11_5) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/55.0.2858.0 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Websites missing favicons do not return a 32px placeholder icon, it's only 16px. 2. This is only size 16px chrome://favicon/size/16@2/http://www.example.com/ 3. This is size 32px though chrome://favicon/size/16@2x/https://www.google.com What is the expected behavior? I would expect that the placeholder favicon for "16@2" size would return a 32px icon, but it returns a 16px icon instead. What went wrong? I'm not sure—Chrome used to return a 32px icon in this case, I'm pretty sure. Did this work before? Yes I don't remember how recently it worked—probably some time this year Chrome version: 55.0.2858.0 Channel: canary OS Version: OS X 10.11.5 Flash Version:

Sorry, that was a typo, I meant to say 16@2x. chrome://favicon/size/16@2x/http://www.example.com/ ^ That URL is returning a 16x16 icon for me.

, Sep 13 2016Thanks for your report. Is it deliberate that your first example URL ("chrome://favicon/size/16@2/http://www.example.com/") reads "16@2" instead of "16@2x"? If I use "16@2" I get 16px favicons even for the second URL, but if I use "16@2x" I get the expected 32px favicon.
