Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:48.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/48.0 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. click on a person then click on "camera" icon 2. a window opens 3. i see me and that's all. nothing happens. it seems that hangouts does not call the person What is the expected behavior? 1. click on a person then click on "camera" icon 2. a window opens 3. i see me and i hear the call ringing and the person joins the conversation or hangouts says "the person does not answer" What went wrong? calling fails WebStore page: hangouts Did this work before? Yes about one week ago Chrome version: <Copy from: 'about:ve53.0.2785.101 (Build officiel) (64 bits)rsion'> Channel: stable OS Version: Flash Version: last day when i clicked on hangouts icon then i get a button "update" then i click on "update" then i check that hangouts is removed but not installed then i installed the extension(not the web app) then since calling have failed

i found where the problem is. compared to the previous version there is one more operation to accomplish. you must invite the person. one more operation is a regression.

Tested the issue on Windows 10, Ubuntu 14.04 and Mac OS 10.11.6 using chrome stable #53.0.2785.101. Observed that the issue is not reproducible. Following are the steps followed to reproduce the issue. ------------ 1. Clicked on a person then clicked on "camera" icon 2. Another window opened. 3. It prompted to invite person(s). 4. After clicking on the invite button, call ringed and waited for the person to join the video call. Reporter@ - Could you please check this issue by creating a new profile without any apps and extensions and please let us know if the issue still persist or not.

you did not read my comment #2 to sum the report,there are 2 problems: - update by clicking the update button in hangouts windows only remove hangouts. - the new hangouts needs one more step to call a contact. this is confirmed in comment #3. for me it is a regression. .

Tested the issue on Windows 10, Ubuntu 14.04 and Mac OS 10.11.6 using chrome reported version #53.0.2785.101, latest stable #55.0.2883.87 and latest canary #57.0.2966.0. Attached a screencast for reference. Following are the steps followed to reproduce the issue. ------------ 1. Added hangout extension to chrome from web store. 2. Clicked on a person then clicked on "camera" icon for the video call. 3. Observed that call got initiated and waited for the person to join the call without any issues. Reporter@ - Could you please check this issue on latest chrome stable #55.0.2883.87 by creating a new profile without any apps and extensions and please let us know if the issue still persist or not.
