For the record, here's some repro steps: - go to a WebVR site such as https://webvr.info/samples/03-vr-presentation.html - ⋮ menu -> Add to Home screen - exit Chrome - Click the site's icon Expected behavior: WebVR APIs available, putting device in Daydream View headset starts VR presentation. Actual behavior: no "Enter VR" button, putting device in Daydream View launches the Daydream home application.

@#9: That is still Chrome, not WebView. WebViews are embedded within native Android apps. It's possible that those steps use CCT or similar ( issue 688611 ).

For context, the steps in comment 9 are applicable to current devices on Android N also. Should that be tracked separately from backwards compatibility?

I filed separate issue 701040 for the "add to home screen" behavior.
