Highlighting the URL takes a long time

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) Click on the URL bar

What is the expected output?
The URL should be highlighted quickly.

What do you see instead?
It often takes a few seconds to highlight the URL. I frequently see the beachball, esp. when I have a lot of tabs open.

This is probably a duplicate of 619235 which has already been fixed.

Reporter, you are two versions out-of-date.  Can you please update Chrome (go to chrome://help) and check to see if this is still an issue for you?
