Issue descriptionChrome Version : 54.0.2837.0 OS Version: Linux Uhm, I've been using and developing chrome for quite a while now. Today I just realized that: - the settings menu has disappeared. - the control+comma hotkey doesn't work anymore.

Ehm I was 100% sure I attached a screenshot. Looks like I didn't. Let me see if I still have it. Hard to make a sense of the bug without that.

Tested the issue on Windows 10, Ubuntu 14.04, Mac OS 10.11.6 using chrome reported version #54.0.2837.0 and chrome #53.0.2785.101. Observed that the issue is not reproducible. Only on MAC the (Command)+(,) is navigating to settings page whereas on desktop there are no shortcuts for navigating to settings page. Attaching screencast for the same. Primiano@ - Could you please let us know if you are talking about the "wrench menu" on the R.H.S cornor of the browser or the settings page. Could you please let us know by typing chrome://settings in the omnibox what behaviour you are facing.

Nope i rebooted and lost the screenshot sorry. Of course it also doesn't repro anymore. The thing that was missing was the "three dots menu" after the various extensions buttons.

OK this happened again but now I understand what's happening. The settings button gets replaced by an "update" icon, I suppose to indicate that an update is available. That is extremely confusing, as it looks like it's just yet another extension. See screenshot

primiano: to address the shortcut question, IDK about ctrl + comma, but alt + e and alt + f work: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/157179?hl=en |
